In New Jersey there is a mandate requiring residents to carry qualified health insurance. If you are not exempt from this requirement and do not have health insurance, you will be required to pay a penalty of 2.5% of your income, and no less than $695 per person and an additional $347.50.
We believe that people should be free to make their own decisions about their healthcare. Fortunately, members of qualified health care sharing plans are exempt from this mandate. Aetna is a large health insurance company that serves 23.5 medical consumers in all states within the U.S. Since their inception in 1853, they have gone through several changes to make them the insurance company they are today - extremely giving. Recently, in 2014, Aetna announced $1.2 million in grants that will go to support the use of digital technology. This technology will serve minority populations.
Altrua Healthshare has thousands of members in a majority of the states. Members of healthshare plans are exempt from the requirements of the Affordable Care Act, including the requirement to purchase a government-approved health insurance plan.
Altrua is known as being very easy to work with.
Amerihealth NJ was founded in 1995, and over the last two decades, they have expanded their influence to reach health providers and doctors at 76 hospitals in their state. Amerihealth NJ focuses solely on New Jersey and its care, preferring to specialize as opposed to offering a wider net of coverage.
DPC Direct is a non-insurance health sharing program designed specifically for people who are members of a Direct Primary Care medical clinic. DPC clinics charge a low monthly fee to cover all primary care, including preventive care and unlimited doctor visits, while the DPC Direct protects from emergency and hospitalization expenses. Horizon BCBS of New Jersey is the largest health insurance company in the state, insuring over 3.6 million people. In business since 1932, it’s part of the nationwide Blue network of insurers, which insures 1 out of every 3 Americans.
All Horizon plans are ACA-qualified, meaning that they provide all of the benefits required under the Affordable Care Act.

Medi-share has a strongly worded faith statement, and is popular with people who want a healthshare program with a strong Christian faith component.
Monthly contribution amounts are sometimes not as competitive as other health sharing organizations.
National General Holdings Corp, the parent company of Accident & Health, covers a wide range of insurances from car to homeowner to health. As a division of NGHC, National General Accident & Health is committed to bringing short-term and supplemental coverage to individuals and groups.
With three different plan options available, netWell members have access to health plans that are suited to them. Note that health sharing is NOT the same thing as health insurance. OneShare Health is one of the most popular medical cost sharing program we offer. Monthly contributions vary by state, so in some states it is not priced as well, but it often offers the best combination of price and benefits.

Sedera is one of the most popular health sharing programs available to small groups.
Health sharing programs are not health insurance, but they do serve the same purpose. Monthly contribution amounts are typically less than half the cost of health insurance.
UnitedHealthOneSM (branded) personal insurance products are offered by UnitedHealthcare Life Insurance Company or Golden Rule Insurance Company, both part of the UnitedHealthcare family of companies. Their health, dental and vision plans take advantage of the UnitedHealthcare network of doctors, hospitals, dental providers and vision professionals for quality care at significant savings. These networks and providers are available all over the United States.
Universal HealthShare has up to seven different sharing programs to choose from. Each program has a unique monthly cost, as well as a specific Non-Shareable Amount (NSA). The NSA is the amount that the member must pay each year before medical costs become eligible for sharing.
