Helping families and small businesses lower health costs

Two Parts, One Membership

Members pay a set monthly amount into a community, and that community shares one another’s eligible medical costs under published guidelines.

The Sharing Side

The community shares the large, unexpected costs: surgery, a hospital stay, specialist care, an emergency.

The MEC Side

A regulated insurance component that covers your required preventive care in network at no cost.

Your HSA

The MEC component is what qualifies you. For 2026 the IRS allows $4,400 self only and $8,750 per family, plus $1,000 more at age 55.

Important: The HSA Healthshare is not health insurance.

The sharing side of the membership is a voluntary arrangement in which members share one another’s eligible medical costs under published guidelines, and it is not regulated by state insurance departments. The MEC component included with it is a separate, regulated insurance product that handles preventive care and makes you eligible to contribute to a Health Savings Account.

How The HSA Healthshare Plan Works

Pick your level

Choose from 18 Member Responsibility Amounts, $1,500 to $10,000. You can change it later.

Enroll any day

No enrollment window to wait for. Your membership starts on the first of the following month.

Open your HSA

Fund it from day one, with the bank or administrator you choose.

Use any provider

No network. Preventive care is covered in network at no cost through the MEC side.

Choose What You Would Pay at the Time of a Need

A higher level lowers your monthly amount. A household is responsible for up to two of these in any rolling 12 month period, with maternity and pre-existing conditions as exceptions.

Choose your Member Responsibility Amount

$1,500 to $10,000, in $500 steps

$1,500 $2,000 $2,500 $3,000 $3,500 $4,000 $4,500 $5,000 $5,500 $6,000 $6,500 $7,000 $7,500 $8,000 $8,500 $9,000 $9,500 $10,000

Membership guidelines govern all sharing eligibility.

No other membership we have reviewed pairs this range of sharing levels with HSA qualification at this price, and that is why The HSA Healthshare is the membership we recommend most.

Sharing for Pre-existing Conditions Opens Over Time

The community shares costs related to a pre-existing condition up to the limits below, and from year five there is no limit at all.

  • Year 1 $5,000
  • Year 2 $30,000
  • Year 3 $75,000
  • Year 4 $150,000
  • Year 5 onward No maximum

Membership guidelines govern all sharing eligibility.

Amounts shared in earlier years may reduce what is available in later years. Ongoing management of a pre-existing condition is not shared. Membership guidelines govern all sharing eligibility.

Common Questions About The HSA Healthshare

HSA HealthShare FAQ Icon

Q: Is The HSA Healthshare health insurance?

A: No. It is a membership that combines health cost sharing with preventive care benefits that meet ACA guidelines. Members share one another’s eligible medical costs under published guidelines. The MEC component included with the membership is a regulated insurance product, and it is what creates Health Savings Account eligibility.

FAQ Icon

Q: How soon can my HSA Healthshare plan be effective?

A: Enrollment opens September 1, 2026. From that date, you can apply on any day of the month, including after the 20th, and your membership begins on the first of the following month. There is no enrollment window to wait for and no cutoff to miss.

HSA HealthShare FAQ Icon

Q: Are pre-existing conditions shared?

A: Yes, on a rising schedule. Sharing is capped at $5,000 in year one, $30,000 in year two, $75,000 in year three, and $150,000 in year four, with no maximum from year five. The community reviews your medical history for the twelve months before your start date, or thirty six months for cancer. Ongoing management is not shared.

HSA HealthShare FAQ

Q: What if I already have a procedure scheduled?

A: Raise it before you apply. A procedure planned before the membership began is not shared, and any surgery scheduled after you join needs a medical review first. Care already underway is looked at case by case rather than ruled out.

HSA HealthShare FAQ Icon

Q: Can I open a Health Savings Account with this membership?

A: Yes. The MEC component included with the membership is HSA qualified, so you can open and fund a Health Savings Account with the bank or administrator of your choice as soon as you enroll.

FAQ Icon

Q: Can a small business offer The HSA Healthshare plan?

A: Yes. It is available to individuals, families, and businesses, and an employer decides how much to contribute toward the cost.
