We’ve had our insurance through bcbs of sc for over 5 years now. We have never had any issues with them and their customer service has been great.

My wife and I just had a baby and Blue Shield of California came through for us. We had some complications, and the baby had a week-long stay in the NICU, which cost a lot of money. Blue Shield asked our doctors for documentation, but promptly paid the claim once they got it.
I’ve had other health plans that were a lot worse.
Avoid if possible!
I’m a healthcare provider. Blue Shield of CA has a huge network around here, but I have to warn people… My practice takes every major insurance carrier in the state, and of all the carriers, Blue Shield is the absolute worst when it comes to getting claims paid.
I’m constantly on the phone with them, and my staff is constantly on the phone getting the runaround, and resubmitting paperwork over and over again.
I’d hate to stop taking it, becuase we have so many patients that rely on it because of their workplace plans. But if you can possibly avoid Blue Shield, do so. They aren’t what they used to be, that’s for sure.
