All You Need to Know About Mending Health Plans

Mending (formerly Taro Health) offers innovative, HSA-compatible plans in Oklahoma and Maine that prioritize accessible, cost-effective care through unlimited primary care access and modern technology.

Founded in 2021, Taro Health was built on a mission to rebuild the relationship between patient and doctor. Today, as Mending, it delivers on that promise by combining Direct Primary Care (DPC) with a fully licensed, ACA-compliant insurance model.

Members benefit from free, unlimited primary care and mental health visits, predictable copays, and a wide network of trusted providers across each state. What sets Mending apart is its emphasis on proactive care,  helping you stay well, not just get treated when something goes wrong.

Whether you enroll in a Bronze, Silver, or Gold plan, you’ll enjoy transparent costs, $0 copays for many services, and full access to comprehensive care from day one. Mending is also the country’s first AI-native health insurance company, leveraging intelligent tools to improve both member and provider experiences.

With Mending Health, your health plan does more than just cover care when something goes wrong; it works to keep you well from the start.

Unlimited Primary Care with Direct Access

All Mending Health plans include a Direct Primary Care (DPC) membership at no additional cost.

You’ll have unlimited access to a board-certified physician who knows you and your history. Appointments typically last 30 to 45 minutes, and you can reach us by phone, video, or text.

Access to Specialists, Imaging, and Hospital Care

When you need care beyond primary or mental health, you’ll have access to a trusted network of providers.

That includes specialists, urgent care, surgical services, and major hospitals. Many services are available with low or capped copays. Maternity care is also fully covered.

Mental Health Visits with No Copay

Mental health support is included. Whether you’re scheduling a video session or an in-person appointment, therapy is fully covered with no copay. You can use this benefit as often as needed.

$0 Labs and Generic Medications

Common lab work and Tier 1 generic drugs are covered at no cost.

These are the types of services people use most often, and Mending Health has made them easy to access without extra fees.

Coverage That Starts Right Away

You won’t need to meet your deductible before using the benefits you need most.

From the day your plan begins, you’ll have full access to primary care, mental health, routine labs, and generic prescriptions at no cost.

Simple, Flat Copays Instead of Surprise Bills

Rather than dealing with percentages and unpredictable costs, Mending Health uses clear, flat-rate copays for most services.

If you need to see a specialist or get a lab test or scan, you’ll know the cost before the visit.

Streamlined Experience with an AI-Driven Platform

Mending Health is the first AI-native insurance company, meaning fewer delays, faster claims, and a digital-first experience that removes unnecessary steps.

ACA-Compliant and HSA-Compatible

All Mending Health plans meet ACA requirements and are available on and off the exchange.

If you choose a high-deductible plan like Bronze, you’ll also be eligible to pair it with a Health Savings Account (HSA) for added tax advantages.

Mending Health Membership Options

Mending Health offers three plan levels: Bronze, Silver, and Gold, each designed to deliver full benefits upfront, with different pricing and cost-sharing options tailored to your needs.

Mending Bronze

This is the most affordable plan in the lineup, offering free and easy access to Direct Primary Care and essential health services.

    Mending Silver

With lower copays for key services and more robust cost-sharing, the Silver plan is a strong middle-ground choice.

You get the same $0 DPC access and mental health coverage, plus a more manageable path toward meeting your deductible.

    Silver includes:

    • $0 primary care and mental health

      Mending Gold

This is the most comprehensive plan available through Mending, and the only one with a $0 deductible.

If you want richer benefits, minimal upfront costs, and peace of mind for higher medical needs, this plan delivers.

      Gold includes:

      • $0 unlimited primary care and mental health

        Mending Health Pros and Cons

Choosing a health plan means finding the right fit for your needs, budget, and how you actually use care.

        Pros

        • $0 Unlimited Primary Care and Mental Health: All plans include free and unlimited access to both primary care and therapy, with no copays and no deductibles to meet.
        • Direct Access to Doctors Through DPC: You’re not limited to rushed visits or long wait times. Mending’s DPC model lets you build a relationship with your doctor, often with same-day or next-day appointments.
        • Simple, Predictable Costs: With flat-rate copays for most services, you’ll know what to expect before you step into a clinic. No percentage-based guessing.
        • Modern, Digital-First Experience: Mending’s AI-native platform makes everything from finding a doctor to filing claims faster and less frustrating.
        • HSA-Compatible Plans Available: Both Bronze and Silver options are HSA-qualified, giving you a tax-friendly way to save and spend on healthcare.
        • ACA-Compliant Coverage: All plans meet federal standards and are available on and off the Health Insurance Marketplace.

        Cons

        • Gold Plan Isn’t HSA-Compatible: If you’re looking for an HSA-qualified plan, you’ll want to skip Gold. The $0 deductible is great, but it doesn’t meet HSA criteria.
        • Coinsurance Applies for Major Services: After the deductible, you’ll pay a percentage for things like hospital stays or advanced imaging. This is pretty typical, but worth budgeting for.
        • Not Available in All States: Mending is currently only offered in Oklahoma and Maine. If you move out of state, you’ll need to switch carriers.

DPC Model May Be New to Some: Direct Primary Care is a different experience, one many love, but it may take time to understand how it fits into your routine.
