1. Foundation Direct Primary Care
Foundation Direct Primary Care is helping to make family medicine more accessible and affordable for the residents of Spanish Fort, Alabama.
Founded by Dr. Edward Williams, MD, Foundation Direct Primary Care’s mission is to deliver a first-class healthcare experience that is both transparent and affordable.
Like all direct primary care practices, Foundation Direct Primary Care works on a membership-based model. They don’t take traditional insurance. Instead, patients pay a flat, predictable monthly membership fee.
In return, they get as many appointments with a primary care physician as they need – at no additional cost.
There are no copays, co-insurance, or deductibles. So patients don’t have to worry about how much it’s going to cost them to make the next appointment with their physician.
Meet Dr. Williams
Dr. Edward Williams III is a southern Alabama native and board certified family medicine practitioner.
He founded the Foundation Direct Primary Care Center in 2020 to fill a need in the southern Alabama community.
Dr. Williams chose the direct primary care model specifically so he could focus on patient care, rather than on dealing with insurance companies. The direct primary care concept allows him a much smaller patient load than conventional fee-for-service primary care and family medicine practices.
As a result, Dr. Williams is able to take on much longer appointments, resulting in a much more personal doctor-patient relationship.
“We take people, not insurance,” he says.
A proud father of three – two sons and one daughter – Dr. Williams enjoys hunting and the outdoors.
If he’s not wearing a white coat in the office, you can tell him by the snakeskin boots.
Understanding Direct Primary Care
The direct primary care model – also called “DPC” – offers patients a better alternative to conventional insurance-based platforms.
Instead, DPC helps foster a more personal, direct relationship between patients and their physician.
Advantages of the DPC model include enhanced access to care, reduced waiting times, and a more personalized healthcare experience. Patients enjoy extended appointment times, telemedicine and secure messaging for continuous support.
DPC advocates say their business model represents a return to the fundamentals of healthcare, where the focus is squarely on patient well-being and affordability.
Typically, a DPC membership includes much greater access to your doctor, unlimited telemedicine visits, in-person visits at no additional cost, reduced wait times, and much greater likelihood of available same-day or next-day appointments.
Note: Direct primary care is a great option for family medicine and routine primary care visits. It’s terrific for health maintenance, medication adjustment, checkups, chronic disease management, aches and pains, colds and flus, vaccinations, sick note visits, and other routine medical services.
However, DPC isn’t meant to stand by itself as a healthcare solution. Direct Primary Care doesn’t include hospital stays, chemotherapy, surgeries, specialist care, most imagery, or other more advanced medical services.
You’ll still want a good health sharing plan or traditional health insurance policy in place to handle ER visits, hospitalizations, specialist care, and catastrophic care.

Foundation Direct Primary Care Men’s Health Clinic
In addition to his traditional DPC and family care practice, Dr. Williams also has a thriving practice focusing on men’s health issues:

- Weight Loss: Medically guided weight loss therapy includes a comprehensive exam, blood work, and a customized plan and medication.
- Premature Ejaculation: This condition can have a number of causes. Dr. Williams provides comprehensive treatment for premature ejaculation.

FAQs
- Why Choose Foundation DPC for Men’s Health: Foundation DPC prioritizes in-person, personalized care, distinguishing itself from online platforms. These online platforms will likely pair you with a mid-level provider and lack the continuity of a physician-patient relationship.
- Insurance Policies: Foundation DPC operates independently of insurance companies, as they believe healthcare decisions should be made solely between the doctor and the patient.
- Certification and Prescriptions: Dr. Williams is a board-certified family medicine practitioner, offering a wide range of medications tailored to individual patient needs, from testosterone replacement therapy to weight loss and hair loss treatments.
- Membership Flexibility: The practice offers a monthly membership without binding contracts.

2. Minney Health Direct Primary Care- Fairhope, Alabama

He also has three years of training in occupational medicine.
Like Dr. Edwards, Dr. Minney also has a passion for medicine and patient care, and appreciates the closer doctor-patient connection that the direct primary care model provides.
Because the DPC model allows for a much lower patient load, Dr. Minney is able to spend as much as 30 to 60 minutes per appointment, if that’s what’s needed to provide the level of care required.

Employer Packages
Minney Health also offers an employee group direct primary care benefit to area business owners.
This is important because many lower-wage and middle-income workers find themselves skipping or delaying needed medical care or medications for themselves and their families because of cost.
Even with health insurance, without a DPC benefit, the cost of deductibles, copays, and coinsurance adds up fast, and can put a significant burden on struggling families.
Of course, this too often leads to more severe health problems down the road – resulting in higher employee stress levels, greater absenteeism and presenteeism, increased healthcare utilization costs, and employee turnover.
All of these lead to higher premiums and lower profitability.
Direct Primary Care helps solve the affordability problem: when your employees don’t need to worry about out-of-pocket costs to see a primary care doctor, they are more likely to get the health care they need.
At Minney Health Direct Primary Care, pricing varies based on employee count and service level. Contact the practice to learn more.
