In Rhode Island there is a state mandate requiring residents of the state to carry qualified health insurance.

Health insurance is only available from a couple of insurance companies, and is exceedingly expensive for anyone who does not qualify for a subsidy. If you do qualify for a subsidy, we recommend you get coverage through the Rhode Island Health Insurance Exchange.

Because members of qualifying health cost sharing plans are exempt from the mandate to carry health insurance, many people in Rhode Island are choosing to join one of these organizations. Below are the health sharing plans we recommend.

Altrua Healthshare has thousands of members in a majority of the states. Members of healthshare plans are exempt from the requirements of the Affordable Care Act, including the requirement to purchase a government-approved health insurance plan.

Altrua is known as being very easy to work with.

Until recently, it was impossible for most people to combine the benefits of health sharing with the tax benefits of contributing to a health savings account. At last, those days are over – thanks to HSA MEC.
